Cross River Security: Navy Assures Residents Of Waterways Safety

The Nigerian Navy has assured the people of Cross River State in Nigeria’s South-south region of effective policing of the waterways
The declaration is in line with measures put in place to ensure peaceful waters for passengers and investors travelling by water into the state.
The assertion was made by the Flag Officer commanding Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral Henry Babalola, at the Passing Out Parade of the 2014/2015 final year students of the Nigerian Navy Secondary School Akpabuyo, Calabar in Cross River State.
The Rear Admiral revealed that through the support of the Chief of Naval Staff, the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) had been equipped with inventory vessels that were capable of patrolling the commands territorial waters and the numerous creeks surrounding it.
Stressing on some past criminal cases recorded by the command, Babalola maintained that the ENC was not relenting in its efforts in ensuring that intensive security was beefed up to combat unrepentant sea pirates.
Reviewing a parade mounted in his honour, Rear Admiral Babalola commended the management of the Nigerian Navy Secondary School for the discipline instilled on their students, expressing optimism that it would grow future security experts in the nation.
Correspondingly, Commandant of the institution, Commander Eleazu Uriri, urged the graduating students to remain ambassadors of the school even as they embrace the larger society.
