Osun, Ondo, and Ogun reject Makinde and support Ayu

HE. Governor Seyi Makinde

Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, has been at odds with the PDP's leadership in the states of Osun, Ondo, and Ogun over his demand that Senator Iyorchia Ayu be ousted from her position as the party's national chairman.

Remember that Atiku Abubakar, the party's presidential candidate, and Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, demanded Ayu's resignation on Wednesday during the South-West PDP stakeholders' meeting.

The Oyo State governor has stated that in order for the PDP in the Southern portion of the party to feel included in the top hierarchy of the party, the issue must be resolved in front of Nigerians by calling on the National Chairman to resign.

But according to a statement made by the party's acting state chairman in Osun, Dr. Akindele Adekunle, there was no South-West PDP meeting where the resignation of Ayu was decided upon.

The PDP leadership in Osun State desires to reaffirm that we are not a part of any uprising against the PDP's national leadership, according to Adekunle.
In a similar vein, a statement by the Ogun State chapter of the party kicked against the pronouncement of Makinde at the South-West PDP event, describing his statement as “ill-timed and dangerous for the well-being of the party.”

Part of the statement stated, "Against this backdrop, Ondo State PDP fully supports the resolutions voted at the 97th National Executive Committee meeting endorsing Senator Iyorchia Ayu as National Chairman of our great party.

"We wholeheartedly support Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the party's presidential nominee, who has the skills and ability to take Nigeria to the place we all want it to go.
